March 14, 2020
Dear Parents and Stakeholders,
These are unprecedented times for public education in meeting the challenges presented by this virus. County health officials indicate that as of today, they have yet to confirm a case of COVID-19 in our county. However, there is still uncertainty as to the impact of COVID-19 on our communities. On Friday afternoon, the San Bernardino County Superintendent issued a statement in support of the difficult decision to close schools in response to the national health emergency caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
With this new information, Grove has decided to close its campus and move to a distance learning program from Monday March 23 and through Tuesday April 7, 2020. During this time, we will be continually reevaluating the situation to determine if we need to extend this practice. This closure includes the suspension of all clubs, after school activities, sports programs, and theater productions until further notice. Grove is proud of these activities and the hard work that staff and students have done to make them be so amazing. It is our goal to make sure that our students have these opportunities this year.
Plans for the continuation of education for all Grove students during the campus closure are being reviewed and finalized. Families and students should plan for the following activities and announcements:
Sunday, March 22nd:
Monday, March 23rd:
Tuesday, March 24:
Thank you again for your patience and support as we finalize and communicate our plans to serve the educational needs of all of our students. There is no doubt things will look different for all of us over the coming weeks. At Grove, we are fortunate to have a dedicated and caring staff, and a strong community that has shown its ability to support each other through difficult times.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Andrew Christopherson
Head of School, The Grove School
